- Collect the basic information. Essentially, corporate events are all connected to marketing. It may be internal marketing (e.g. making the employees feel closer and more loyal to the company culture). Whatever it is, though, you should first and foremost make sure you know the very basics of what you’re doing here: the goal (why this event is happening and how to coordinate the actual event to this goal) and the target audience (who will be attending the event, what are their likes, what is less likely they’ll enjoy, and so on).
- Once you have that, be sure to assemble a team around you. You may think you’re perfectly fine with doing this all on your own – but this is a large event and there’s a lot at stake. So it’s probably best to recruit other people to help you with different planning tasks. If the company hasn’t already assigned a team for this, make sure you recruit them yourself. - Accept that you are human. Accept that sometimes, some things just cannot be done. You may be limited by the market, by the company rules, by your boss, by the time you have at your disposal, or by the budget you’ve been allotted.
